British reggae legend Macka B back with new album in February 24th

Macka B is a British reggae veteran with Caribbean roots, who is on stage already for 3 decades. They love him in whole Europe and for many generations was his music the gate to the world of reggae. On the 24th of February is Macka B coming back to Prague with his band Roots Ragga Band to present his newest album Never Played a 45.

Macka B is from the beginning of his career 1985 singer at the label Ariwa, which is responsible for the legend of dub music Mad Professor. They are still working together, but Macka B is not only connected to electronic dub music. He is very open to every genre, and so are many remixes of his songs existing. On his latest album, which is the 19th in his discography, he is returning back to his roots. The album was released at the famous British label Peckings and is built on the golden sound of Jamaican rock steady of the 60s/70s. But the album doesn’t sound like a revival. It is a music honor to the pioneers of reggae music with a great sound of the 21st century. The lyrics are, as usual, very actual and conscious.

The title of the album Never Played A 45 addresses DJs, who never played a vinyl and forgot about the authentic sound of real reggae. Macka B is not criticizing the new digital technologies; he is more reminding, that we shouldn’t forget about the music education and that we should try to combine it.

Macka B was 1999 one of the first reggae interprets performing in Czech Republic. He promoted the enthusiasm for this music genre, also between young Czech artists. Don’t hesitate to come to this wonderful concert on the 24th of February. It will be a great and unforgettable concert!
