The English singer and guitarist Anna Calvin, who was in 2011 nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll, is releasing her new album One Breath. Her debut album Anna Calvi was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 2011 and she was also nominated for Best British Breakthrough at the 2012 BRIT Awards. She is known for her powerful voice, intense guitar playing and seductive live performances. Her second album, One Breath is due for release on 7 October 2013 through Domino Records. Two years after the release of her debut album her life changed completely and you can hear this also on her second album. For the first album she took a lot of time, not sure, if even somebody will ever hear it. The latest album was done in few weeks. She prepared 30 songs over a year, before going to France to the Blackbox studio, where the album was recorded. Daniel Maiden-Wood is still playing the drums, Mally Harpaz percussion and the co-worker of Massive Attack and Portishead John Baggott is playing for the first time the keyboard. The album was mixed in Dallas, Texas, in a 3 week session in an isolated motel room. Calvi worked with the producer John Congleton, who produced the album of Amanda Palmer and Bill Callahan. Congleton shared her euphoria for experimenting and helped her to put the songs in perfect balance. In 2012 Anna Calvi was at the Rock for People festival and in March she is coming back to present to their fans her newest songs.
