About the event:

The British band Dub Pistols are back with a new album! They will present the album “Return Of The Pistoleros” on the 29th of October in the Lucerna Music Bar. This concert is part of the 20 concert-series for the 20th anniversary of the LMB.

The long awaited album was released 1st of June 2015 on the label Sunday Best Recordings. Already the first song “Pistoleros” is catching you with the typical Dub Pistols weapons: a big wing section, electronic bests and energetic raga flow. On this album are very interesting features, e.g. MC Earl 16, Lindy Layton, Jamaican star Chezidek and Sean Tee aka Dark Horizon. They are combining new and old Dub Pistols – also on board is producer and composer Tim Hutton (Groove Armada, Ian Brown and Prodigy).

“We are going our own way. Don’t need to fit somewhere anymore. To our concerts are going not only “ska granddads”, but also festival teenagers. We don’t need to invest in marketing, we are just making music.”, says Barry.

Festival favourites and party-rockers, the Dub Pistols – led by main man Barry Ashworth – are a national treasure. The London-based ska-dub- punk-hoppers have been active for 15 years, causing dancefloor uproar wherever they go. The Dub Pistols formed in the mid-90s out of the chaos and energy erupting from the Heavenly Social-spawned big beat scene. Barry Ashworth had been in indie-dance outfit Deja Vu, who scored with their cover of the Woodentops’ ‘Why Why Why’, and initially hooked up with Jason O’Bryan who was half of Wall Of Sound duo Ceasefire with noted reprobate Derek Dahlarge. 1998’s debut album, ‘Point Blank’, helped, hoisting Barry and Jason into remix work which included Moby, Ian Brown and Crystal Method [most recently Lily Allen] plus video games and soundtrack work, including a track for Blade 2 with Busta Rhymes.
With a back catalogue to be proud of, the Dub Pistols’ punky-reggae party rages on, firing sugar-coated bullets at any recession depression. Few bands can raise a roof or ignite a festival crowd with more rabble-rousing aplomb than this crew.

The concert Dub Pistols is one of the 20 concerts prepared for the 20th anniversary of the Lucerna Music Bar. Last week we announced already another names: Marina and the Diamonds and Incognito. Other concerts will be announced during the next weeks.
