Slim Cessna’s Auto Club is after 2 years coming back to Prague. This group from Denver in Colorado is engaging, riveting, sad and humorous; country punk, country gothic, gothabilly and other forms loosely grouped as Americana or alternative country: Slim Cessna’s Auto Club has been branded with every musical description possible. This seems fitting, as SCAC describes their music as American and after two decades of working and living as SCAC, they have created their own genre. The instruments are drums, upright bass, pedal steel, banjos, piano, guitar, vocals and stories. They have recorded critically acclaimed albums (Village Voice, Denver Post, San Francisco Chronicle) on Jello Biafra’s Alternative Tentacles label. The songs are each thoughtfully crafted with unique arrangements, executed by superb musicianship, then fully realized through original, insightful and intelligent lyrics.
They are right now working on their newest album Unentitled, which will be released in spring 2014. But you will hear few of the newest songs already at their concert on 22nd of January in the LMB in Prague; As well as songs from their compilation SCAC 102, which was released by their European label Glitterhouse Records. The support is the band The Moonshine Howlers (musicians from bands such as Queens of Everything, Rocket Dogz and Jonestown).
With two of the most charismatic frontmen around (Westword) and four accomplished musicians, SCAC is the past, present and future of American music.
