On the 11th of August is the dark prince of electro coming to Prague – the South African artist Felix Labanda. He will present to us his new album Deaf Safari. Laband will perform a unique live show accompanied by visual artist Kerry Chaloner. Support is producer and DJ Jon Kennedy.
Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and gifted electronic artists to emerge from South Africa, since the 2001 release of his first full-length album, Thin Shoes In June, Felix Laband has toured extensively around the country and abroad, garnering international attention for his evocative electronic music. 2002 saw the release of 4/4 Down The Stars. In 2005 Laband signed with German label Compost Records and released the acclaimed Dark Days Exit. Ten years later, in 2015, he jumped back onto the scene with the release of Dead Safar which has been met with critical acclaim – including an 8/10 rating from Mixmag. “I’m really happy about the release of this new record and about the fact, that I can perform again. My last record Dark Days Exit was released ten years ago, and even I was not working in the music world, I never stopped making music.”, says Laband about his new release Deaf Safari.
Since his album launch in July 2015, Felix Laband has been performing a unique live show accompanied by visual artist Kerry Chaloner. With this show he is also coming to Prague’s Lucerna Music Bar.
As a special guest before Felix Labanda is performing the British DJ and producer Jon Kennedy, who will present to you his new set from the LP HA!. Kennedy is working professionally in the music industry for 15 years. Jon has released 5 LP’s on some of the UK’s best underground labels, remixed over 50 artists and amassed more than 3 million recorded plays on LastFM. He is also touring the globe as a DJ and live band outfit, Jon has reached audiences in South Korea, USA, China, Japan, India, Russia, Middle East, Malaysia and Europe.
In 2007 he founded his own label “The Jon Kennedy Federation”, which’s productions are also featured on various Hollywood films (e.g. „Limitless“ starring Bradley Cooper), advertisements and games.
